Wedding Hair Part II – Cascading 2-strand Twists
We’re back for Part 2 of our Wedding Hair Series featuring the hairstyles worn at my wedding. If you missed Part 1 you can check it out here.
I’ll start the ball rolling with my Matron of Honour. She has natural hair; it’s very coarse and she loves to wear it RED!
One might think that red hair is outlandish especially for a wedding but it actually complements her complexion nicely and she’s been dying her hair red and orange for so many years that I can’t even remember her natural hair colour. She opted for a side-swept two-strand twisted style, with the twists cascading to one side.
For more length and to successfully achieve the “cascade”, extensions were added while the hair was being twisted. The loose twists were then curled onto rollers and dipped in hot water to set the curls. The curls were pinned in place with hairpins and a butterfly accessory completed her ensemble.
Miraculously this style lasted 3 weeks after the wedding and the only reason it didn’t last longer is that she got tired of the style and took down the twists! In fact she was able to wear the same style to a photo-shoot 3 weeks later and it looked pretty much the same as it did on my wedding day. Impressive because my natural hair would have started fuzzing after the first few days!
Stay tuned for part 3 of this 8-part series!
