Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner Review

Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner Review

Jessicurl Too SheaClaims: “Jessicurl Too Shea is the kind of conditioner that people write poems about. No, really, someone actually did that a few years ago. THAT is how much people love this stuff. I can’t say I blame them – I use it every day and actually have nightmares about forgetting it when I go on a trip. It has shea butter (hence the adorable name), jojoba oil, avocado oil and tons of lovely herbs and spices that are all great for hair and scalp. Together they combine to make a thick, moisturizing conditioner that isn’t too heavy and not at all greasy. It makes your curls so soft you’ll have a hard time keeping your hands out of them. (But do try – touching your curls too much is a no-no)”

Ingredients: Water (Aqua) infused with Equisetum Maximum Lam (Horsetail), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Laurus Nobilis (Bay Leaf), Ocimum Basilicum (Basil), Arctium Lappa (Burdock Root), Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root), Origanum Vulgare (Oregano), Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass), Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme), Salvia Officinalis (Sage) and Urtica Dioica (Nettle); Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Hydrolyzed Oat Flour, Soy Lecithin, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

My 6¢: This is the second Jessicurl product I’ve tried and I was not disappointed. It comes in 3 scents – Unscented, Citrus Lavender and Island Fantasy. I’ve tried both the Citrus Lavender and Island Fantasy. I’m not a fan of Lavender so it wasn’t much of a surprise that I didn’t care for the Citrus Lavender scent. Not sure how to explain the scent but you can smell both the citrus and the lavender equally in my opinion. It just irritated my nasal passages but that didn’t stop me from getting my money’s worth and completing the bottle. The Island Fantasy is much more pleasant for me. It’s a sweeter scent and smells subtly of coconut.

Jessicurl Too Shea! is a rich, creamy conditioner that’s thick enough to be effective on thick hair but not super thick that it weighs down your kinks. It is muddy yellow in appearance and is full of ingredients to improve the overall health of your hair and scalp. From shea butter, avocado oil and jojoba oil for moisturizing to peppermint to cleanse the scalp, along with various herbal extracts to stimulate growth. I really like this conditioner! When I initially apply it to my dry hair, it doesn’t seem like it’s doing much but the trick I found is to work it in and let it sit for at least 5-10 mins or to deep condition (or steam treat) with it. It leaves my hair soft, silky and feeling moisturized.  Detangling is effortless.

Despite not having much of a defined curl pattern, when I use this conditioner I can see a slight curl pattern until I wash it out :(.

I don’t experience any notable shine from the Jessicurl Too Shea, but that’s not any shortcoming of this conditioner – I don’t really experience shine from conditioners period. Sometimes I used the Citrus Lavender as a leave in, but I found after a day or so my scalp started to feel irritated so I stopped that practice. I’m yet to try using the Island Fantasy as a leave-in.

Overall this is a very good conditioner. I highly recommend you give it a try if you have thick, dry hair.. I don’t think you would be disappointed.

You can purchase the Jessicurl Too Shea conditioner on Jessicurl or Amazon.com.

  1. Great review. Jessiecurl is a little over my budget, but I enjoyed the review nonetheless. I am a recovering PJ almost about 2yrs clean. I still get excited about product reviews.
