Strawllers

I caught a glimpse of these while watching a video on Nubian Fitness Goddess’ blog.  She featured a segment by Robin Robinson of Chicago Fox News entitled Great Hair Style or Exercise.  Solving the Dilemma. During that video they were doing a straw set but not with straws.  They were using rollers that looked like straws!  I’ve always wanted to try a straw set, but felt that regular straws were 1) too flimsy and 2)...

My New Applicator Brush

I’ve tried the regular applicator brush that you get from the beauty supply store, however I used it once and retired it because it would snag my hair. Since then I’ve been thinking about what would be a suitable replacement. I thought about regular pastry brushes with the bristles but figured they would cause the same problem. Then  I thought about paint brushes but never followed through with it. Wash Day: Curlformer Results

So here are the results of my curlfomers set from yesterday’s wash day. This is my third attempt at curlformers and I think by far the best one. Here are pics of the set itself.  You can see that the front isn’t completely finished because I ran...

New Shampooing Technique

This may not be a “new” technique per say, but I came up it out of necessity. My hair is 8 weeks post and very difficult to manage right now. I can barely get a comb through and when I do try to detangle it alot of breakage happens. This morning instead of simply hopping in the shower and doing my shampoo, I sat down armed with a wide tooth comb and my trusty coconut oil and went to work. I divided my hair into quarters....

Cowashing and Braidouts Are Not for Everyone!

So I jumped on the bandwagon and decided to try the cowash and braid out on relaxed hair. I must admit that I do like the cowash method (when I use a water based conditioner WITHOUT protein).  My hair is soft and manageable – especially if I incorporate some coconut oil with the condish. The issue comes with the air drying and braid outs. While it is an easy alternative to the time consuming blow-drying or sometimes...
